Five haiku on love

Five haiku on love (2023)

I

don’t take for granted
what appears to be special:
our morning coffee

II

don’t take for granted
the harsh and fierce discussions
our blatant presence

III

don’t take for granted
the smiles and words of wisdom
  our joyful secrets

IV

don’t take for granted
the taste and smell of kissing
happiness and bliss

V

don’t take for granted
my love and admiration
so profound and deep

Five Haiku on modern warfare

Five Haiku on modern warfare (2023)

I
yesterday a life
still and insignificant
yesterday alive

II
yesterday a voice
small and hardly audible
yesterday a song

III
yesterday a name
nothing for a history book
yet a name to call

IV
yesterday a face
now a skull amid debris
countless broken bones

V
yesterday a child
now a thing in body bag
zipped away and gone

Dialogues

Dialogues (1966)

Flower, how do you feel
you are not able to change your place
for you there are no other ways
than standing still and whispering softly
together with the wind.

Wind, how do you feel
why do you always change your mind
one time you are so sweet and kind
another time you destroy the land
together with the sea.

Sea, how does it feel
to lie between the continents
to carry ships on your hands
and to drink the water that falls down
out of a bursting cloud.

Clouds, how do you feel
why do you always want to stay
when we need sun and why do you go away
when we need some flee and why do you
try to hide the sun

Sun, how does it feel
to be there up in the sky
to look down on the earth from high
and what do you think of things that happen
down here in this world.

Hello, moon, how are you
you give your light in the dark of night
and that’s what makes me feel alright
please don’t let a cloud come along
and hide you away.

Tell me, Atlas, how does it feel
to carry a world filled with hate
a world where people are afraid
to lose their money and luxuries
that they don’t even deserve.

And you, men, how would you feel
if you would be dislodged of your own little place
if your enemy would hit you in the face
and took all your money and luxuries
that neither you nor he deserves.

Five Haiku on the year 2023

Five haiku on the year 2023

I

she went all quiet
the mother of all children
aghast and silent

II

where will I find breath
as children of all mothers
lie lifeless and choked

III

come alive and chant
you sisters of all brothers
tune your voice and sing

IV

sing for what, they cried
the brothers of all sisters
fists raised in anger

V

twenty twenty three
the father of all fathers
sighs in the darkness
